Not according to the manufacturer promises, 3D television was not ideal for watching movies or sporting events broadcast. As a result, global sales volume growth remained weak 3D television by 2013.
The major television manufacturers in the world compete to release a television 3D (three dimensional) to increase revenue growth. The manufacturer claims, 3D television could present a more realistic experience when used for watching movies, sporting events, or playing games.
However, the research firm ABI (Allied Business Intelligence) Research Inc. judge, claims the 3D television producer turned out to be very difficult to prove. Because, ABI Research asserts, 3D television will not be able to present the same 3D experience with 3D cinema, which has a screen size much larger than the 3D television.
"Success 3D cinema encourage television manufacturers offer televisions 3D.Namun very unfortunate, that looks terrific 3D movie in the cinema was not going to offer the same sensation when viewed on the small screen television," says ABI Research Inc. Industry Analyst Michael Inouye.
The same event, ABI Research added, repeated when 3D is used to watch television sporting events, which took place in large fields, such as football matches. Because, the game sports more suitable is shown in high definition television (HD).
"Broadcast sporting events are also problematic. Therefore, 3D television screens are not capable of displaying details of the stadium or large fields. Therefore, a picture that looks good on HD TV is not necessarily perform equally well in 3D television," said Inouye. Because the 3D television has not been able to realize the promise, ABI Research said, so consumers would not be interested in immediate purchase 3D television. Consequently, ABI Research estimates that global sales volume of new 3D television will grow in 2013, when 3D TV technology is getting perfect.
"When the global sales volume of 3D television could achieve acceleration in 2013, the global sales volume of 3D television by 2015 will be able to reach 50 million units. But if in 2013 the 3D television technology was not developed well enough, then the estimates will not materialize," said Inouye .
Among the major television manufacturers in the world, one of the most aggressive release a 3D television is the second largest television manufacturer in the world of LG Electronics Inc. However, LG was disappointed on the performance of the 3D TV market globally. The reason, the sales volume of real 3D television in the world was not as high as forecast. LG estimates that global sales volume of 3D television by 2010 will only reach three million units, or at most four million units.
"Demand for 3D television turned out to be lower than originally estimated. The reason, prices are still too high and the 3D content is still very limited," President & Chief Executive Officer of Home Entertainment Division, LG Electronics Inc., Simon Kang, in a Reuters report.
However, Kang optimistic problem that convolute the 3D television market will subside in 2011. Therefore, Kang estimates, the global sales volume of 3D television by 2011 will rise to around ten million units. Research firm iSuppli Corp. found, at this time 3D TV prices are still too high for most consumers.
iSuppli look, at this time a 3D television units average $ 600-worth USD700 more expensive than television 2D (two dimensional), which has a class display technology. iSuppli explains, the average selling price (ASP) 3D Television in 2010 was USD1.768 per unit. iSuppli believes, 3D TV prices become very high because the manufacturer has not been efficient in producing 3D television. As the manufacturing process efficiency improvements 3D televisions, iSuppli believes, 3D TV prices will gradually fall.
iSuppli predicts, the average selling price of 3D television by 2015 is USD825 per unit, the alias does not exist half the average selling price of 3D television by 2010. iSuppli also found that 3D television producers realized prices of their products proved too tinggi.Karena, a number of 3D television producers began to consider the price cuts. However, iSuppli asserted, 3D television producer of the most aggressive pricing policy is to improve the world's largest television manufacturer Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd..
The reason, explained iSuppli, Samsung is able to become the first 3D television producer in the world are able to sell their 3D television for less than USD1.000 per unit.Tidak only that, Samsung is also providing a bonus as well as two pairs of 3D glasses.
"Low-cost 3D TV from Samsung is named PN50C490. The price is USD989 per unit, including two pairs of glasses. It has a size of 50 inches, PN50-C490 Samsung is the world's first 3D television less valuable than USD1.000 per unit," says Research Analyst TV Technology iSuppli Corp. Edward Border.
With the presence PN50C490 Samsung 3D TV, iSuppli asserted, the average selling price in the world of 3D television had come down sharply and the decline was occurring faster than forecast. Because, iSuppli underlines, 3D televisions larger than 45 inches at the moment still sold with an average price of USD3.150 per unit. (Newspaper Sindo / Ahmad Fauzi)
